MIKE MCENTIRE

Mike is the owner along with wife Nathalie of Mike McEntire Reining Horses, located in Selma, North Carolina. 

Mike started showing and training all around horses when he was still a teen age and eventually decided on  reining as a priority. He worked at Loomis ranch in Oklahoma   for some times and eventually established himself  here on the East Coast in 1993 ,working for himself.Mike has won over $520,000 NRHA LTE . He is a consistent finalist at major events in the open and has won several prestigious titles . He has been ranked in the Top Twenty Professionnals NRHA since the beginning of the program and is again for 2007 ,winning over $86,000  in 07 (NRHA).

Mike is proud to say he has been helped and inspired by several great trainers like Bill Horn, Kenny Eppers, Shawn Flarida, Craig Schmersal, Tim McQuay and many others.

Today our business has grown and now we manage a facility where we keep around 60 horses in training at all times and also we offer a fully equipped breeding facility where we stand several stallions and breed +/-200 mares a year for the public. Mike coaches non-pros and gives clinics in the US and internationally. He is also a USEF and international NRHA judge and serves on the NRHA Judge’s Committee as well as the teaching panel.

Mike's other passion and hobby is motocross. He likes to ride as often as he can and is doing very well racing. He bought a black Ltd Edition 2008 Honda CRF450 and is looking very fast on it!

*Open Congress Futurity Finalist on 2 horses, Gunners Doll for Philippe and Catherine Castel and Nu Chexy for long-time owner Mary Jane Simpson.

*Tradition Open Futurity Co-Champion on Tom and Sherry Sumpter's Miss Gunny.

*Dixie Futurity Open Champion on The Great Guntini for owner John Faulkner marking a 151.  He also placed a close 3rd on Miss Gunny for Tom and Sherry Sumpter.

*Carolina Classic Open Derby futurity finalist on Smartys Timber Chex and Shiners Q Nic and also placed 2nd in the ABI Open Derby on Bueno Chexolena.
