Mike McEntire Reining Horses had a very successful year in 2005 and thanks to all of our owners, staff and friends who make this success possible.  Also for the 3rd consecutive year, Mike makes 2005 Top Twenty Professional rider. Looking forward to 2006!

DECEMBER 2005 Mike headed west to the biggest show in the reining calendar, the very competitive NRHA futurity in Oklahoma City. He rode 3 horses including Bueno Chexelona, Smartys Timber Chex and competed for the first time on Whiz N Lena owned by Jerry Kimmel. Thanks to Tim McQuay and Jerry Kimmel for allowing Mike to ride this very pretty son of Topsail Whiz. Mike made it back to the finals on an astonishing 2 out of 3 horses in a futurity that started out with +/- 470 horses. He earned over $24,000 in the finals on Bueno Chexolena and Whiz N Lena and was thrilled with both horses. Congratulations to Brian and Amy Peeples, owners of Bueno Chexolena and to Jerry Kimmel, owner of Whiz N Lena. Thanks to these owners for allowing Mike to show their horses and we are extremely grateful for all of their help.......Congratulations on her first trip to the NRHA futurity, Melony Jackson ended Top Ten Ltd Non Pro on her nice mare Lil Ruf Ms Whiz.

OCTOBER 2005 Mike and his team travel to the All American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio where Mike rode Bueno Chexolena to a 3rd place out of 147 entries in the go rounds of the very competitive open futurity. Catherine Achtenhagen and her gelding Northern Enterprise had an outstanding run to win the Novice Horse Non Pro in a very big field of entries so congratulations to her winning this very prestigious event. She also placed top ten in the very competitive Non Pro class  - awesome!! Melony Jackson also got a paycheck for her top ten place in the Ltd Non Pro futurity with Lil Ruf Ms Whiz so well done to them.

Also in October, Mike went to Williamston and won the Open class on Allen Dick's Gallolena Rio. Well done Allen and thank you! Mike also rode his daughter Sarah's horse to a 2nd place in the Novice Horse Open with a 73 1/2.
